About Me
When I was released from the Service after the Vietnam War, I sat down and took stock of my life. With an independent spirit, and a passion for business, I decided to embark on a lifelong career as an entrepreneur. I contacted the local SBA office, and discovered a number of opportunities for Veterans like myself. Soon after, I was armed with assistance from the SCORE program and a small business loan. I was ready to start my own business.
I spent the next thirty years acquiring the entrepreneurial, real estate finance, and securities experience I needed to succeed. About halfway through, however, I realized that I had a special skill for Community Development. I decided that I would devote the rest of my professional life to helping disadvantaged populations. I formed the National Economic Opportunity Fund (NEOF), where I developed and managed multiple affordable housing and social venture capital investment funds totaling over 220 million dollars.
Recently, I decided to turn my attention to Veteran and Service Disabled Veteran entrepreneurs, because I want to make sure they have access to the same opportunities I did. That’s why I have partnered with The Veterans Corporation (TVC) to develop a comprehensive help desk for Veterans.
I am a Disabled Vietnam Veteran and was awarded a Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal w/V for Valor.

I'm Jim Mingey and I travel across the country in my jeep helping service disabled veterans build businesses.
This is a journal of my days changing people's lives.
